Wuhan Institute of Physical Education, formerly known as Zhongnan Institute of Physical Education, is one of the first batch of independent full-time general higher sports colleges in New China. It was established in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province in 1953, moved to Wuhan City, Hubei Province in 1955, and was renamed Wuhan Sports in 1956. The college is directly under the State Sports General Administration. In 2001, it was adjusted to be jointly established by the State Sports General Administration and the Hubei Provincial People's Government. The school is located on the shore of the beautiful East Lake, surrounded by mountains and rivers, with a beautiful campus environment, advanced facilities, strong teaching staff, strong cultural heritage, and distinctive school-running characteristics.
