Historical evolution: The school was established in 2004 and has gone through two development stages, Hubei Academy of Fine Arts College of Art and Design and Huazhong Agricultural University Chutian College. In 2015, it was renamed Wuhan Institute of Design and Engineering with the approval of the Ministry of Education. In 2016, it was approved as an independent undergraduate. The enrollment of art colleges has developed into an undergraduate college that focuses on art and develops multi-disciplinary coordination and integration. The school consists of 8 colleges including Jackie Chan School of Film and Television Media, School of Environmental Design, School of Fashion Design, School of Public Art, School of Food and Biotechnology, School of Business, School of Information Engineering, and School of Nursing Asia. There are currently more than 9,700 students in the school.
