This year 2020 is commemorating the eightieth anniversary of the founding of the University of Costa Rica, which, since its dawn, has brilliantly guided the course of countless generations of women and men who have passed through its classrooms with the honorable purpose of learn, develop and improve the infinite spectrum of knowledge and wisdom under the emblematic premise of Lucem Aspicio.
Thus, as is evident in all social events, its creation was not the product of fortuitous or coincidence, because, on the contrary, it happened as a result of a wide series of factors, vicissitudes, characters and circumstances that were concatenated for the beginning of his work since 1940 in particular, but whose most remote antecedents lie at the beginning of the nineteenth century in general.
