With the mission of producing and disseminating knowledge and training professionals to promote sustainable development and quality of life in the region, the history of the State University of Ceará (UECE) begins with Law No. 9,753 of October 18, 1973, which authorizes the Executive branch to establish the Educational Foundation of the State of Ceará (FUNEDUCE), whose first president was Professor Antonieta Cals de Oliveira.
