Matsuyama Shinonome Gakuen was established in 1886 (Meiji 19) as the first girls' school in Shikoku in response to a passionate prayer for girls' education by the first principal, Kunijiro Nimiya. Since then, we have made tireless efforts to educate girls based on the Christian spirit with the goals of faith, hope, and love.
In 1964 (Showa 39), the first women's junior college was established in the prefecture, and it has developed as one of the leading junior colleges in Japan with four departments: English, childcare, secretary, and life science. In 1992 (Heisei 4), a women's university was established, and a faculty of humanities consisting of two departments, human culture and language culture, was established. The following is an outline of the history of our university.
