Hubei is the hometown of famous medical scientist Li Shizhen. Hubei University of Traditional Chinese Medicine was founded in 1958. It is the only higher undergraduate college of Chinese medicine in Hubei Province. Its predecessor was the Hubei Provincial Chinese Medicine Training School established in 1954. In 2003, the former Hubei College of Traditional Chinese Medicine merged with the former Hubei Medical Inspection College to form the new Hubei College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, which was renamed Hubei University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in March 2010. The school is one of the earliest institutions of higher learning in my country to offer undergraduate education in traditional Chinese medicine and postgraduate education in traditional Chinese medicine. It is an excellent school for undergraduate teaching level evaluation by the Ministry of Education.
