Hubei Institute of Technology is an ordinary college of higher learning focusing on work and cultivating applied talents. It is located in Huangshi City, Hubei Province, the cradle of modern Chinese national industry. The school occupies an area of ??1.46 million square meters, with a building area of ??665,000 square meters. It is backed by Qinglong Mountain and surrounded by Cihu Lake. The school was established in 1975 and opened an undergraduate program in 1977. It has gone through the running stages of Huangshi Higher Engineering Class of Hubei Provincial Colleges and Universities, Huangshi Branch of Wuhan Institute of Technology (now Wuhan University of Technology), and Huangshi College of Technology. In 2004, it was upgraded to establish Huangshi Institute of Technology. The college passed the first batch of undergraduate teaching qualification assessments by the Ministry of Education in 2010. In 2011, it was renamed as Hubei Institute of Technology. In 2016, it was elected as the first rotating chairman unit of the Hubei Province University Application Alliance. Take the lead in participating in the review and evaluation of undergraduate teaching work of the Ministry of Education among universities in Hubei Province. In 2019, it was appraised as "National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Typical Experience University".
