Capital Institute of Physical Education is the only higher sports college in Beijing. It was founded in 1956 and was originally named Beijing Sports School. In 1960, it was transformed into Beijing Normal University of Physical Education. In 1962, it was merged into Beijing Normal University. In 1979, the Beijing Normal University of Physical Education was restored. In 2000, it was renamed the Capital Institute of Physical Education. In 2020, according to the classified development plan of Beijing's public universities, our school was identified as a "high-level characteristic university".
